SPORT ENGLAND CLUBMARK - JUNE 2013

On Wednesday 19th June 2013 BJA Development Officer Nick Sheperd and Olympic & World Champion Maki Tsukada came along to a great celebration evening at EJC, to present our Clubmark certificates. This has been a real team effort to get done and is a special benchmark in our tenth year.

OUR SENIOR CLASS BLOSSOMS

Our Senior class on 15th August 2012 was absolutely buzzing! The standard was high, with 40 plus national medals among this bunch. The most pleasing thing was to have so many Judoka on the mat from the club's first year: Lucy, Phoebe, Elliot, Little Joe and Megan were all with us 9 years ago and were training hard still in 2012.

BEST DAY EVER FOR EJC DAN GRADES

A day that must go down in history! On 18th September 2011, at the High Wycombe grading, EJC gained no less than 4 new Dan grades! John Hough completed his points for his 2nd Dan. Harkirat completed her points for her 1st Dan - an outstanding achievement for one so small. Then both Conor and Lukasz smashed their line-ups to gain their 1st Dans on the day. Very well done to all.

Our beginners' section is booming at the start of our 8th year. NEW CLASSES OPEN UP AT EJC

A new chapter in the history of EJC begins on Monday 12th July 2010 as two new classes are added as a regular feature of our timetable, offering red and yellow belts another class in the week and also providing some high level conditioning and drill work to the more advanced club members.

Our first day back (Wednesday 6th January) was cancelled as the car park was an ice rink but on the 2nd day we braved it: with no central heating, it was pretty cold. Above are our shivering Intermediates: L-R, Erik, Daniel, Jack, Luke, Jamie, Lucy, Niamh, Christopher & Phoebe.

Above is our expanding beginners' class. Many of these red belts are now breaking into the competitive scene. I look forward to them developing and moving into our intermediate class over the next few years.

OUR YOUNGEST JUDOKA - 2005

IN THE BEGINNING...

Ealing Judo Club was established on April 10th 2003. On this day our first class was attended by 15 children from the local area. That beginners' class is now thriving and has naturally progressed into the four classes we now run each week. Our total membership is up to 95 and is growing all the time.

We entered our first tournament in only May of that same year, 2003. Little Joe Wood fought in the Ford Mini-Mon. Since then we have increased our competition schedule to approximately 60 events per year, including trips to Belgium, France, Holland and Italy, and even Eastern Europe.

Our first National medal came in April 2004, with our Juliet being selected to fight in the London Area Girls' Team at the National Team Championships at Burgess Hill. The team took silver.

Since then we have added to the list, with a total of 31 medals from 16 different fighters and are looking forward to continuing with a fantastic 2009/10.

We now have a thriving Adult Class and an extremely healthy Beginners' Class. Everything in between is looking pretty tasty too! If you would like to visit or join us please contact us via the details on the Home Page.
